Subject Number 046-698 Temporary Suspension of Ronald Prijic, M.D.'s Authorization to Treat Injured Workers Effective June 30, 2014

Subject Numbers Regarding Health Provider Authorizations

Authorization No. 152346-3W

June 26, 2014

Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(4), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board has exercised his authority to temporarily suspend Dr. Ronald Prijic’s authorization to treat injured workers within the New York State workers’ compensation system effective June 30, 2014. Dr. Prijic’s last known business address is 179 North Broad Street, Norwich, New York 13815.

The Chair's designee's investigation revealed that New York State Department of Health, State Board for Professional Medical Conduct (BPMC) issued Order # 11-116, wherein Dr. Prijic did not contest the charge of negligence on more than one occasion, resulting in his license to practice medicine in New York State being suspended for 36 months, stayed with probation for 3 years.

Thereafter, Modification Order # 13-363 was issued, effective November 13, 2013, precluding him from all patient contact and any practice of medicine, clinical or otherwise. In addition, he may not use his medical license as a basis for practicing any other profession licensed or regulated by the New York State Board of Regents, Department of Health or the Department of State.

Therefore, the Chair believes that Dr. Prijic may be guilty of misconduct, and that such misconduct would detrimentally affect the quality of care provided to injured workers.

Dr. Prijic is prohibited from rendering treatment and care to injured workers while his authorization is temporarily suspended. Reports submitted by Dr. Prijic for services rendered prior to June 30, 2014, are valid, but are invalid for any services rendered on or after that date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Prijic for services rendered prior to June 30, 2014 should not be denied due to the suspension of his authorization.

This suspension remains in effect until further notice. Any questions regarding the authorized lists should be referred to the Medical Director’s Office at 1 (800) 781-2362.
