Effective October 14, 2009, Steven Marc Benenfeld, D.O. voluntarily resigned his authorization to treat individuals who have suffered from work-related injuries or illnesses.

Previously, by Consent Order (BPMC No. 09-177), the New York State Department of Health, State Board for Professional Medical Conduct, effective September 28, 2009, indefinitely suspended the medical license of Steven Marc Benenfeld, D.O., until a modification order is issued staying the suspension. No current business address is available for Dr. Benenfeld. By Subject Number 046-367, the New York State Workers' Compensation Board published the suspension of Dr. Benenfeld's medical license.

The effective date of September 28, 2009, as of which Dr. Benenfeld is precluded from rendering medical treatment and care to individuals who have suffered work-related injuries or illnesses, remains in effect. Medical reports submitted by Dr. Benenfeld for treatment or examinations rendered prior to September 28, 2009, are valid, but are invalid for any treatment or examinations rendered on or after that date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Benenfeld regarding treatment or examinations he rendered prior to September 28, 2009, should not be denied due to the suspension of his license or the voluntary resignation of his authorization.
