Subject Number 046-307 Voluntary Resignation of Dr. Steven F. Gass's Authorization to Treat Workers' Compensation Claimants

Subject Numbers Regarding Health Provider Authorizations

April 13, 2009

Authorization No. P02943-0W

Please be advised, effective December 26, 2007, Dr. Steven F. Gass, D.P.M. agreed by Consent Order to a two year suspension of his license to practice podiatry in the State of New York, with the last 12 months of said suspension stayed. Effective March 27, 2009, Dr. Gass voluntarily resigned his authorization to treat workers' compensation claimants. Previously, Dr. Gass' authorization to treat workers' compensation claimants had been suspended effective October 23, 2008, to October 22, 2009 (see Subject No. 046-263).

Dr. Gass is prohibited from rendering podiatric treatment and care to individuals who have suffered work-related injuries or illnesses. Medical reports submitted by Dr. Gass for treatment rendered prior to December 26, 2007, are valid, but are invalid for any treatment rendered on or after that date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Gass regarding treatment he rendered prior to December 26, 2007, should not be denied due to the suspension of his license, the suspension of his authorization to treat workers' compensation claimants, or his resignation.

Any questions regarding these matters should be referred to the Office of General Counsel at (518) 486-9564.
