Authorization No. 177095-7W
December 28, 2018
Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(4), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board has exercised her authority to temporarily suspend Dr. Eric Jay Wilck's authorization to treat injured workers within the New York State workers' compensation system effective December 24, 2018. Dr. Wilck's last known business address is:
Mount Sinai Medical Center
One Gustave Levy Place
New York, New York 10029
The Chairís designee's investigation has revealed that the New York State Department of Health, State Board for Professional Medical Conduct (BPMC) has issued Order #18-270, wherein Dr. Wilck agreed not to contest the allegations, including that during periods in or before 2015, he failed to render and/or note appropriate care and treatment to multiple patients, and prescribed medications, including controlled substances, inappropriately to these patients. This resulted in a 36-month probationary period, the condition that he shall not prescribe any medications, including controlled substances, for professional colleagues, social friends or family members, and that he shall successfully complete a continuing education program as directed by the Office of Professional Medical Conduct.
Therefore, the Chair believes that Dr. Wilck may be guilty of misconduct as described in Education Law §6530(3) and §6530(32), and that such misconduct would detrimentally affect the quality of care provided to injured workers.
Dr. Wilck is prohibited from rendering treatment and care to injured workers and from conducting reviews of records regarding variance requests pursuant to 12 NYCRR § 324.3(b)(2)(ii)(a) while his authorization is temporarily suspended. Reports submitted by Dr. Wilck for services rendered prior to December 24, 2018, are valid but are invalid for any services rendered on or after that date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Wilck for services rendered prior to December 24, 2018, should not be denied due to the suspension of his authorization.
This suspension remains in effect until further notice. Any questions regarding the authorized lists should be referred to the Medical Director's Office at 1 (800) 781-2362.
