Subject Number 046-1027 Reinstatement of Dr. Stephen J. Marks

Subject Numbers Regarding Health Provider Authorizations

Authorization No. 146739-8W

February 14, 2018

Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(4), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board (“Chair”) had exercised her authority to temporarily suspend Dr. Stephen J. Marks’ authorization to treat injured workers in the New York State workers’ compensation system effective May 4, 2017 (Subject Number 046-941).

The temporary suspension was based on the Chair’s designee’s investigation, which revealed that the New York State Department of Health, State Board for Professional Medical Conduct (BPMC) had issued Order # 17-129, wherein Dr. Marks agreed not to contest the allegations therein and imposed designated penalties and practice conditions.

Upon receipt of information regarding Dr. Marks' compliance with the Order, and being satisfied that Dr. Marks has complied with the Chair’s temporary suspension, the Chair has rescinded the temporary suspension of Dr. Marks, and has reinstated his authority to treat injured workers effective February 14, 2018. The Medical Director’s Office will restore Dr. Marks to the list of providers authorized to treat injured workers by February 14, 2018.

Any questions regarding the authorized lists should be referred to the Medical Director’s Office at 1 (800) 781-2362.
